REFLECTIVE WRITE
Reflective Write is a literacy strategy that is used after a task is complete; the task can be a large one (such as a self-evaluation after the conclusion of a unit) or a short one (such as a Reflective Write at the end of a chapter in the book that we are reading as a class). As the name indicates, it is a student's reflection on his or her own work.
This is a strategy for students to become more aware of their own work by writing a reflection upon completion. It allows a student insight into their own work without fear of judgement.
This assignment that can be informal or formal. It can be done as a "Quick Write" or as a formal assignment after a large project, so that the student can assess his or her own work in an effort to recognize strengths and areas for improvement.
A Reflective Write is a useful literacy strategy because it forces each student to evaluate his or her own work and emphasize one's strengths, while recognizing areas that need improvement.
